Pix is a modern image discovery platform built to help users find high-quality visuals instantly, download them seamlessly, and even interact creatively through AI-powered remix and chat features.
The goal wasn’t just to build another gallery app — it was to create a more engaging experience around images, where exploration feels fast, clean, and inspiring.
Why I Built Pix
Finding good images online sounds simple, but in practice, it often comes with friction:
- ✓ Image platforms can feel cluttered or slow
- ✓ Searching doesn’t always surface the right content
- ✓ Downloads can be tedious
- ✓ There’s rarely a creative layer beyond 'just viewing'
I wanted Pix to solve that by combining:
- ✓ Fast image discovery
- ✓ A smooth download experience
- ✓ AI-driven interaction and remixing
- ✓ A modern frontend that feels fun to use
The Problem Pix Solves
1Fast Access to High-Quality Images
Users want great visuals without spending too much time searching or clicking through messy layouts. Pix integrates the Unsplash API to provide a large library of professional images with clean search and filtering.
2Creativity Beyond Just Downloading
Most image platforms stop at “view and download.” Pix introduces an AI layer where users can:
- ✅ Remix image ideas
- ✅ Generate creative prompts
- ✅ Chat around visual inspiration
This turns the platform into more than a gallery — it becomes a creative tool.
3Smooth Performance and Offline-Friendly Experience
Modern apps should feel instant. Pix uses IndexedDB to support local caching and reduce repeated network calls, improving speed and responsiveness for returning users.
This was a strong hands-on project in combining third-party API integration, modern Next.js patterns, performance optimization, and practical AI features. It strengthened how I think about products: not just building features, but building value.
